APRIL 8TH THE PALM AIRE WOMEN’S CLUB WILL AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS TO DESERVING LOCAL STUDENTS.
Melodie Dickerson and The State College of Florida Chamber Choir will perform at the scholarship luncheon.
The Palm Aire Women’s Club, thanks to the generous contributions of its members, will continue its long tradition of awarding annual scholarships to deserving local students. Four 2-year scholarships will be awarded to State College of Florida students. Additionally, two scholarships will be given to Manatee Technical Institute students. Each student must attend school full-time and remain in good academic standing. The recipients and their mentors will be honored at the April 8th luncheon.
Attendees will be entertained during the event by The State College of Florida Chamber Choir directed by the renown Ms. Melodie Dickerson. This choir often accompanies visiting soloists when they perform at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
Since the 2022/2023 PAWC board will be elected here, this meeting will be especially notable, . Make sure you attend so your voice will be heard.
Due to cost increases beyond our control, tickets are now $30, including lunch. The PAWC Charity Committee has gone global! Due to the dire situation in Ukraine, the board decided to support the people in Ukraine. Ukraine has been under siege for the last month. This has displaced millions of civilians from their homes, and thousands more have been killed in the conflict. Ukraine and its people face immense, immediate danger, and they need all the help they can get.
Originally the committee had suggested bringing in supplies, but now they feel that monetary contributions would be much more practical. The committee did its research ( as usual) and found that the charity to fund would be Nova Ukraine.
Nova Ukraine is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine. They partner with UNICEF USA, Airbnb, and more. They are helping with the evacuations, as well as working to find shelter, food and medical care for the refugees .
Instead of supplies, please bring a check made out to Nova Ukraine and we will ensure it will be sent to this wonderful organization. All donations are tax deductible. If you wish to help, but can’t attend the luncheon, please contact carolanngarafola1@gmail.com. for more ways to help.
