Our mission is to equally support local higher education and local charities, primarily assisting women and children. We accomplish this through fundraising activities in conjunction with our PAWC luncheons. The proceeds of our efforts assist a diverse population of students who may not be able to continue their education without financial assistance and provide extra monetary help to local charities to better serve the disadvantaged of the Bradenton-Sarasota community.

I am delighted to serve as your President for the 2018-2019 term. I wanted to bring you up to date with what is going on in the PAWC and our plans for the next eight months. Your new board has been very busy this summer. Because of their hard work and creative plans, I am happy to report it's a great time to be a member of Palm-Aire Women's Club. This is our 60th year and we are still going strong!
Hopefully, you have seen the messages about the fabulous luncheon programs that Susan Romine has designed for us. Before she planned our programs, Susan made sure that the membership experience would be more meaningful. We will be entertained by several groups, such as Theatre Odyssey, Circus Arts, Sarasota Contemporary Dance, and the WestCoast Black Theatre Troupe. These are just some of the highlights. We also know you have busy schedules, so meetings will start promptly at 11:30 am (doors open at 10:45) and will end by 1:00 pm.
You will also notice that we have numerous new members. They are bringing a new energy to the club as well as many new ideas. Our Mix and Mingles have also been great fun. So much so, that we have volunteer hostesses scheduled throughout December. Speaking of new, we also have a new logo. I hope you like it.
Sally Reed and Kay Kwenski broke records selling ads for the directory and Jan Lane worked her magic on its production. The directory is packed full of information. Also many of the ads have special discounts just for you. Please mention the Palm-Aire Women's Club when you shop with these great merchants. If you ever misplace your directory, you can always visit our website at www.palm-airewomensclub.org. Your email is your username and the password is PAWC2018. Everything you see in our directory is on the website. Karen Oberne, our webmaster, is constantly updating web information and pictures, as well as adding the newest members.
Believe it or not, co-chairs Kim Lege and Ivonne Cardona have already begun planning the February's Fashion Show. These two ladies bring lots to the table in terms of creativity, contacts, and overall skills. Kim serves on our Board and Ivonne is one of our new members. She also helped with directory ad sales.
Lastly, I won't bore you with details on our financial state. Janice Scanlon is back on the board serving as our treasurer and she brings a wealth (no pun intended) of knowledge about our club. Our financial state at this time is healthy. An updated financial report will be placed on the Luncheon Raffle table at every meeting.
With people like these on our board and members like you, I am confident that our club will flourish for many years to come. So cheers to sixty years and here's to many, many more!
Thank you. I look forward to seeing you our monthly meetings soon.
