FOR MORE THAN SIX DECADES THE PALM-AIRE WOMEN’S CLUB HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY.
This year the Palm-Aire Women’s club celebrated its sixty-fifth anniversary by distributing grants to six local charities in need of funding. The Charity Committee, headed by Carolann Garafola, selected small independent charities that help our community. Giving back to the community was the reason the PAWC came into to existence sixty-five years ago. All funds raised flow back into the community in the form of scholarships and grants to local charities.
Representatives from the chosen organizations: Barbara Price (Baby Basics), Victoria Brown (Dollar Dynasty), Valerie Green and Erline Constant (Healthy Teens Coalition), Laurel Lynch (Hope Family Services), Rosemary McMullen (Mothers Helping Mothers), and April Glasco and Erin McIntyre (Second Chance Last Opportunity) attended the May luncheon and gratefully received the grants. These grants allow their organizations to continue helping those in need. The PAWC recognizes what these organizations accomplish and is proud to support the critical work they are doing.
Several past presidents attended the luncheon to observe both the grant distribution and the traditional PAWC installation ceremony. Honorary Lifetime member Barbara Link presided as the board was sworn in. Peg McKinley became the first president of the Palm Aire Women’s Club to serve three terms. This year she will be assisted by: Vice-President Ann King, Recording Secretary Nancy Curley, Treasurer Susan Romine and Corresponding Secretary Linda Greene. Congratulations to the newly installed officers.
Sherry Kenny and Ann King will co-chair the PAWC Fashion Show “STEPPING OUT” scheduled for February 23,2024. Sherry and Ann have already worked together on other successful fund-raising campaigns. We look forward to them bringing their experience and expertise to the Fashion Show.
Sherry is a new member of the Women’s Club, originally from the Chicago area. She is experienced in financial services marketing. Ann is the PAWC Vice President and has years of experience in High Tech sales, marketing as well as event management.
We are incredibly grateful that we have two experienced and energetic co-chairs to manage our biggest fundraiser in 2024.
They have announced that Darci Jacob will sponsor the fashion show. Darci’s shop is known for its high-style fashion in a boutique environment. She has developed deep roots within our community and often sponsors charitable events including a prior PAWC fashion show. Stay tuned for more information as the planning for the February Fashion Show continues.
Even though there are no meetings scheduled over the summer months, mix & mingles and small group lunches are being planned. These events are extremely popular. At the Mix and Mingles, members host other members, potential members, and guests. It’s a fantastic way for present and future members to get acquainted and stay connected, especially over the summer months. Don’t miss them. Please check emails and the Palm Aire Women’s Club Facebook Page for dates and times.
It is time for membership renewal and the PAWC is requesting dues for the coming year (2023-2024). If you can, please consider donating an additional amount to the normal $40 dues. Every dollar helps provide scholarships and grants and is 100% tax deductible. Membership is open year-round. Non-Palm Aire Country Club members are very welcome. Mail checks to PAWC Dues, PO BOX 21051, Bradenton, FL34204. If more convenient, place the check in an envelope addressed to PAWC dues in the PAWC box in the PACC reception area or use PAYPAL.
