TFOR MORE THAN SIX DECADES THE PALM AIRE WOMEN’S CLUB HAS MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY.

The final meeting of the season ended on a definite high note. Generous members enabled the club to offer grants to six local charities in desperate need of funding. The Charity Committee, headed by Carolann Garafola, selected small, independent charities that profoundly affect our community. Giving back to the community was the main reason the PAWC came into to existence sixty-four long years ago. 100% of the funds raised by the PAWC flows back into the community in the form of scholarships or grants to local charities.

Representatives from the chosen organizations: Leslie Kudla ( Baby Basics), Victoria Brown and Dale Booker (Dollar Dynasty), Jonathan Evans, (Healthy Teens Coalition), Laurel Lynch (Hope Family Services), Rosemary McMullen (Mothers Helping Mothers), and Robin Hain (Suncoast Institute on Chemical Dependency) attended the May luncheon and gracefully received grants which allow their organizations to continue helping those in need. The PAWC recognizes the valuable work these organizations accomplish in assisting the community and is proud to support the critical work these non-profits are doing on behalf of those in need.

Twelve past presidents were on hand to observe the traditional candlelight ceremony as new board members were installed. Former President Carolann Garafola and Former Vice President Pattie Meades conducted the ceremony. Peg McKinley led off, lighting a red candle to become President of the Palm Aire Women’s Club . (This is the second time Peg was elected President.) Board members, Ann King (Vice President), Nancy Curley(Recording Secretary), Ivonne Cardona(Treasurer) and Susan Romine(Corresponding Secretary) followed. Each lit a different color candle to symbolize their office and responsibilities. Congratulations to the newly installed officers and a special thank you to the outgoing officers for a job well done.

Outgoing President, Debi Frock, did not allow distance to keep her from the festivities. She appeared virtually thanks to the latest technology. Debi celebrated the achievements of the past year and expressed her hopes for the future of this wonderful organization.

Even though there are no meetings scheduled over the summer months, mix & mingles and small group lunches are being planned. These events are extremely popular. At the Mix and Mingles, members host other members, potential members, and guests. It’s a fantastic way for present and future members to get acquainted and stay connected, especially over the summer months. Don’t miss the next one. Please check emails for dates and times.

The PAWC cordially invites Palm Aire Country Club members to join the Women’s Club. Non country club members are also very welcome.
