Get a sneak peek of the Asolo Repertory Theatre’s fabulous costumes for upcoming shows at the January 19th Palm-Aire Women’s Club Luncheon.
David Covach, the Costume manager from the Asolo Repertory Theatre, will discuss the new Asolo show “Inherit the Wind.
Mr. Covach came to the Asolo in 1995 to serve as Assistant Costume Shop Manager, resident designer and draper. He started in theatre touring with The Prince Street Players. He worked both as a performer and a costumer. This experience gave him a unique perspective on costume from both the designer’s and actor’s viewpoints.
As an actor he became dissatisfied with his costumes. He decided he could do better. Thus began his career in costuming. Between working with other designers, purchasing thousands of dollars of fabric in New York and computerizing the thousands of costumes the Asolo already owns, David keeps himself busy. We are grateful he managed to find the time to discuss his work with the PAWC.
Luncheon will be held at the Palm Aire Country Club and will start at 11:30 AM. Cost of the luncheon is $33 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Reservations must be received by January 12th. Also at this luncheon, the PAWC Charity Committee is requesting school supplies for the Safe Children’s Coalition. This non-profit provides education and child-welfare services to many foster care children. Please bring in pens, pencils, notebooks, backpacks ,etc.
Ann Doughterty Ross was originally scheduled to appear at this luncheon but had to cancel due to illness. All at PAWC join in wishing her a speedy and complete recovery.
The Palm-Aire Women's Club (PAWC) Annual Fashion Show Luncheon and Fundraiser, "STEPPING OUT", is scheduled for February 23, 2024 at the Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota. This event is open to the community and will feature SUMMER SMITH, ABC NEWS ANCHOR 7 as co-emcee. This fashion show puts the "fun" back in fundraising, with proceeds benefiting scholarships for State College of Florida, Manatee Technical College and providing grants to local qualified charities.
"STEPPING OUT" will feature fashions from Darci Jacob's boutique, Darci’s on Main Street in Sarasota. Tickets are $75 and must be purchased in advance by check or credit card.
