THE PALM AIRE WOMEN’S CLUB HAS A SPECTACULAR SEASON PLANNED!


Here is a sneak peek of the proposed PAWC calendar.


Vice President Ann King has been working to ensure that the PAWC will have an exciting series of luncheon programs for members ( and their guests). The highlights of her proposed calendar include: a fabulous fashion show, a St. Patrick’s Day Play, a visit from an aquarium and a backstage look at the fabulous costumes that make the Sarasota Operas so memorable. Be sure to mark your calendar so you will not miss the festivities.


October 14th, Michael Moore , the director of Mote Marine Laboratory’s new Science Education Aquarium, will discuss the spectacular new Mote Science Education Aquarium now being built on twelve acres in Nathan Benderson Park. The present world-class Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium is dedicated to support conservation of marine and coastal biodiversity, healthy habitats and natural resources. The new Mote SEA will improve hands-on access to marine science education allowing future ocean leaders to discover a passion for science, technology and conservation.


November 11th, Jim Shirley , the Executive Director of the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota County, will explain how his organization helps ensure that Sarasota remains a top cultural center in Florida. He makes certain that hotel tax dollars help fund our local arts organizations and help keep them in Sarasota. Next time you attend a local art or cultural experience, remember to thank Jim Shirley.


Dec 16th, A local school choir will sing a special program of seasonal favorites.


Jan 13th, A representative from Sarasota Opera Costumes Division will discuss their historic collection of over 30,000 fabulous costumes for more than 135 separate theatrical productions. Opera companies all over North America continue to use and rent these costumes. Renowned artists who have worn them include Luciano Pavarotti, Beverly Sills, Marilyn Horne, Norman Treigle and Stephanie Sundine.


Feb 3rd, will be the date of the annual PAWC Fashion Show. Peg McKinley is the chairperson for this gala event. She is presently forming committees to help produce the event. Peg will be revealing the exciting details shortly.


March 17th, A special play for St Patrick’s Day, "A Wee Bit of Blarney" will be performed by the Asolo Repertory Theatre Guild Play Readers. The Guild Play Readers take the excitement of live theater out into the community by presenting staged readings to the public. Most presenters are former professional and community theater actors and educators.


April 14th, The Scholarship Luncheon - The scholarship committee will present the 2023 PAWC scholarships to recipients from the State College of Florida and Manatee Technical College . The 2023/2024 PAWC Board will also be elected.


The final meeting of the season, the Charity Luncheon, takes place on May 12th. The PAWC sponsored charities will be introduced and the newly elected PAWC Board will be installed.


The Palm Aire Women's Club invites all to attend luncheons and get involved helping the PAWC grow. This will allow the club to continue to help the community. Join us for a luncheon or a Mix and Mingle and check out opportunities for Friendship, Fun and "Giving Back". Remember, the PAWC meets on most second Fridays of the month at 11:30 from October to May. Membership is open year-round and is not limited to Palm Aire Country Club members.
