THE PALM AIRE WOMEN’S CLUB WILL ANNOUNCE THE RECIPIENTS OF THE 2022 GRANTS AT THE MAY 13TH LUNCHEON!!

Peg McKinley elected PAWC President for the second time!

The winners of the PAWC 2022 grants will be introduced at the May 13th Charity Luncheon Meeting. Chairwoman Carolann Garafola and her committee have selected small, independent charities that make a difference in our community. This year’s grant recipients include Baby Basics of Sarasota County, Dollar Dynasty, Healthy Teens Coalition of Manatee County, Hope Family Services, Mothers Helping Mothers and Suncoast Institute for Chemical Dependency.

Baby Basics supplies diapers and wipes to one hundred low-income, working families who do not receive government assistance. Dollar Dynasty assists underprivileged adults and children with basic needs and counseling. Healthy Teens Coalition of Manatee County offers peer education to help teens reduce risky behavior and make informed choices regarding their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. H.O.P.E. is Manatee County’s State certified domestic violence service provider, helping and sheltering families who are not safe in their own homes. Mothers Helping Mothers furnishes basic needs and baby items to families. Suncoast Institute provides addiction education and resources.

The PAWC recognizes the valuable work these organizations accomplish in assisting the community. Nonprofit charities depend upon donations to continue their work in caring for the less fortunate. It is inspiring to support the critical work these organizations are doing on behalf of those in need.

THE PAWC WENT GLOBAL FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!!!

The war in Ukraine is having catastrophic consequences. Millions of civilians were caught in the middle of the escalating war and humanitarian crisis. Massive casualties were reported every day. People were forced to flee from their homes, their possessions, and their country to seek safety and shelter around the world.

The Charity Committee wanted to help. Mary Beth Rempp determined that Nova Ukraine had the requisite ability and contacts to aid those both inside and outside Ukraine. Nova Ukraine has provided thirty-two tons of medical supplies and delivered food, clothing, and other essentials. They have partnered with UNICEF and organized fundraising events throughout the country.

As usual, the PAWC members responded and opened their hearts and checkbooks to help those in desperate need. Due to members’ generosity almost $2000 was collected to support the Ukrainian people.

It is time for membership renewal and the PAWC is requesting dues for the coming year (2022-2023 ). If you can, please consider donating an additional amount to the normal $40 dues. Every dollar helps provide scholarships and grants and is 100% tax deductible. Mail checks to PAWC Dues C/O Susan Pulver 5305 Creekside Trail, Sarasota, FL 34243. If more convenient, place the check in an envelope addressed to PAWC dues/Susan Pulver in the PAWC box in the PACC reception area or use PAYPAL. For membership information, contact Susan Pulver.
